Sponsor Spotlight: Meat People

At Writer’s Block, we like to partner with people who care about what they make — and how they make it. That’s what drew us to Meat People, a local favorite that treats food the same way we treat songs: with craftsmanship, honesty, and heart.

Meat People isn’t your average butcher shop. It’s a gathering place for those who appreciate where their food comes from and the hands that prepare it. Their team believes that good meat — like good music — should be made with intention, shared with others, and enjoyed in good company.

They value quality over shortcuts, connection over convenience, and community over everything else. That’s the kind of spirit that keeps the Madison arts scene alive, and we’re proud to have them as part of the Writer’s Block family.

So next time you’re planning a meal, stop by Meat People. Ask questions. Get to know the folks behind the counter. And let them know you appreciate their support of local music — because every great song (and every great dish) deserves a little love.

Sponsor Spotlight: Hampton Inn & Suites Madison Downtown

At Writer’s Block, we’re intentional about our partnerships. We look for sponsors who believe in what we do — businesses that care about people, craft, and community just as much as we care about songs and stories.

That’s why we’re so grateful to have the Hampton Inn & Suites Madison Downtown as part of the Writer’s Block family.

When we invite songwriters to join us in Madison, the Hampton makes sure they feel welcome. With their generous donation of hotel rooms, they’ve given our artists not just a place to sleep, but a place to land — a quiet room to reflect, rest, and maybe scribble down that next lyric.

They don’t just support local music — they help make it possible. And that matters.

So if you’ve got friends coming to town, or if you’re planning your own Madison staycation, consider checking in with the folks who check in on our songwriters. Let them know their support of the arts doesn’t go unnoticed — because the people who show up for music deserve to be celebrated, too.

Sponsor Spotlight: Table Wine

At Writer’s Block, we’re careful about who we bring on as sponsors. We look for local businesses that care about quality, creativity, and community, the same way we care about the music and artists we bring to the stage.

That’s why we’re so grateful to have Table Wine as a sponsor of Writer’s Block.

If you’ve ever stepped inside Table Wine, you know it’s more than just a wine shop. It’s a neighborhood gathering place, a source of discovery, and a celebration of good taste (in every sense of the word). The team at Table Wine believes that what’s poured into your glass matters — just like we believe the stories and songs we bring to the stage matter.

They care about quality. They care about people. And they care about supporting local music and the arts, which makes them the perfect fit for our little Writer’s Block family.

So next time you’re looking for something special to share — whether it’s a bottle for a friend, a treat for yourself, or a sip to pair with a favorite record — stop by Table Wine. Say hi. Let them know you appreciate them supporting local music. Because the folks who lift up the arts deserve to be celebrated, too.

Sponsor Spotlight: Lake City Books

At Writer’s Block, we’re careful about who we invite into our little circle. Not because we’re exclusive—but because the series is personal. It’s built on storytelling, connection, and a deep love for the craft. So when we look for sponsors, we’re not just looking for logos. We’re looking for kindred spirits.

That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome Lake City Books as a new sponsor of Writer’s Block.

If you’ve ever wandered into their cozy little shop in Madison, you know it’s more than just a bookstore. It’s a haven for curious minds and open hearts. The shelves are packed with great stories—some new, some old, all thoughtfully chosen. Lake City Books believes in the power of words, just like we do. And they’ve been generous enough to support the artists who bring their words to life on our stage.

We’re lucky to have them in the community—and even luckier to have them as part of the Writer’s Block family. Drop by their shop. Buy a book. Say thanks. And keep supporting the folks who support the arts.

A Note Regarding Our Sponsors

Every sponsor of Writer’s Block is a place I already love. These are local businesses I frequent, the same ones where I run into many of you before a show or on any given weekend. So when it came time to bring in sponsors, it wasn’t about chasing corporate dollars, it was about connecting the dots.

The idea was simple: if I already see our audience at these spots, it stands to reason that more of you would love them, too. And maybe, just maybe, some of their regulars will stumble into one of our shows and discover a new songwriter they didn’t even know they needed in their life.

It’s a win-win, great local businesses supporting original music, and great music introducing people to the places that make Madison special. So check them out, support them, and keep the whole thing going.

A special shoutout to Forward Craft & Coffee, our very first sponsor and a place that feels like an extension of Writer’s Block itself. If you’ve ever walked into Forward, you know—it’s the kind of spot where great conversations happen, where ideas spark, and where a well-crafted drink can make a good day even better. They’ve been supporting us from the start, not just because they believe in live music, but because they believe in community. So next time you’re there, raise a glass (or a cup) to them for helping keep the music going.
