Writer’s Block — November 20, 2025

Writer’s Block returns to the Bartell Theatre on Thursday, November 20 for one last round before we close out the year — and this lineup is something special.

Katie Dahl, Noah Guthrie, and Mark Croft will share the stage for an intimate night of songs and stories in true Songwriters in the Round fashion. Expect humor, heart, and harmony as three unique voices trade tunes, tales, and insights into the craft of songwriting.

If you’ve never been to a Writer’s Block show, this is what makes it different: no amps, no egos, and no background noise — just real songs, real stories, and a room full of people who care about both.

So come take a seat under the lights, settle in, and help us wrap up another incredible year of music and community.

Real Songs. Reasonable Volume.

How lovely you lie with these ghosts on my bed, Like I always loved you back, How lightly the lamp goes and halos your head, Like the night was never black, There have been nights when it’s all I could do, Just to rock myself to sleep, Nights when I fell alone into that dark so deep

– Katie Dahl

Sponsor Spotlight: Meat People

At Writer’s Block, we like to partner with people who care about what they make — and how they make it. That’s what drew us to Meat People, a local favorite that treats food the same way we treat songs: with craftsmanship, honesty, and heart.

Meat People isn’t your average butcher shop. It’s a gathering place for those who appreciate where their food comes from and the hands that prepare it. Their team believes that good meat — like good music — should be made with intention, shared with others, and enjoyed in good company.

They value quality over shortcuts, connection over convenience, and community over everything else. That’s the kind of spirit that keeps the Madison arts scene alive, and we’re proud to have them as part of the Writer’s Block family.

So next time you’re planning a meal, stop by Meat People. Ask questions. Get to know the folks behind the counter. And let them know you appreciate their support of local music — because every great song (and every great dish) deserves a little love.
